Meet Toby Cougar, the owner and instructor at YbotStudios! With 15 years of experience teaching art in Regina and nearly 25 years in the field, Toby is a seasoned educator.

Toby Anderson graduated from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2001 with a BFA in Sculpture. Often described as a visual art ninja, he has presented his work in both solo and group exhibitions.
Toby has worked with people of all ages in galleries, studios, and artist-run centres, reflecting his strong commitment to community engagement. He has taught children’s art classes in Calgary at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Prospect, and Studio C, and in Regina at the Mackenzie Art Gallery and Red Fox Studios. He has also collaborated with the Regina Board of Education’s “Create” program as a visiting artist, leading engaging and inspiring art projects. Toby currently teaches at the University of Regina’s Conservatory of Performing Arts.

His art style is Pop Surrealism—colorful, fun, and unique, much like his teaching. Kids love his classes for his humor, kindness, and patience. Toby enjoys sharing his passion for art with his students.

When not teaching or drawing you can find him hanging out with his cat Pearl on his shoulders, spending time with family,  playing guitar, or listening to his favorite bands, Jesse Wells, Sed3ment, and Taylor Swift.

""We feel we were so lucky in having Toby come to our classroom. He not only engaged and helped my students learn new things but he created huge excitement in my room. I have a vast range of ability in my room, and Toby was able to have everyone engaged and excited about what what they were doing. The students and myself were sad when our sessions with Toby were done."
